What to Consider When Selecting an ECA solution

What are the key considerations you should make when selecting an early case assessment (ECA) solution? Vivian Tero, Program Director from analyst firm IDC, recently presented her findings from the 2011 IDC ECA MarketScape report for the very first time in a Digital Reef webinar. In the webinar Vivian defined ECA, its core technical functionalities, highlighted the evolution of the ECA Application, and gave best practice insight on automating eDiscovery and ECA. She also presented tips on designing the RFP during the vendor selection process.

Vivian began her research late last year, due to an increasing number of inquiries from clients who wanted to understand ECA products, what they do and how to effectively evaluate them.

In the webinar Vivian emphasized on the need for organizations to understand their current litigation profile and how it will evolve over time.

Vivian stressed that organizations must understand their company’s existing and planned investment in information management and information governance, as well as their enterprise IT infrastructure strategy and resource strengths. In addition, she shared with audience members the findings from her study and other key best practice strategies for choosing the right ECA tool.

Towards the end of the webinar Vivian was joined by Steve Akers, CTO and Founder of Digital Reef, who commented on some of Vivian’s points and along with Vivian, answered questions that webinar participants had.
